Lake Erie punishes Boats and Anglers on Day 1
It was a day of strong winds, a boat sinking and an Angler going overboard. You’ve got to be a tough fisherman to deal with the 20mph winds, 2-4ft swell and nail a good bag. Carl strung it all together on Day 1 weighing 5 fish for 19lb 15oz leaving him in a healthy 20th place.
This tournament is an all or nothing deal for Carl. It’s his last chance to qualify for the 2016 Bassmaster Classic, to achieve this he needs a win. His positioned very well and his definitely on the right size fish but he will be hoping for a kicker or two for that bag tonight. After Day 2 they will cut the field to the Top 12 Boaters and Non Boaters. The weights are very close through the Top 20, Carl is less than 2lbs off the magic 12th spot. The leader David Reault has 25lb 9oz.
They will take off at 9pm tonight. There’s no BASSTrakk for the Open’s but you can keep up with the action following the Bassmaster LIVE BLOG (link below). LIVE Weigh In’s will commence from 6:15am Australian time. (Photo from Bassmaster Shaye Baker)
