FINISHING JUST 2 POUNDS FROM THE LEAD
After damaging his prop on the run back to the weigh station fellow Bassmaster Elite Angler Mike McClelland helped get Carl back to the weigh station. A great day on the water weighing 5 bass for 17 pounds giving him a total of 28lb 9oz and finishing Day 2 in 7th spot. This leaves Carl just a little over 2 pounds behind the Day 2 leaders Bill Lowen and Chris Zaldain with 30lb 14 oz.
SPORTSMANSHIP AT IT’S BEST
It all happened last night, a solid bass hit the deck to get Carl off the mark, a solid bag then followed and it was topped off by a significant showing of Sportsmanship from Mike McClelland.
On the mad dash back to the weigh marshal Carl damaged his prop to the stage it put him in limp mode and he faced the possibility of not getting back on time. That’s when fellow Pro Elite Mike McClelland pulled up and made sure Carl avoided disaster giving him a ride back.
Mike McClelland was in the TOP 10 when he took the time out to give a fellow Angler some help. Already Aussies are showing their gratitude and respect on Mikes Facebook page. A great ambassador of the sport Mike posted his response this morning
“I am humbled by all of the support from Carl’s Aussie fans. I just did what I knew what’s right. I know Carl would’ve done the same thing”. #Aussiefansrock
