My first trip to the USA in 2010, this was the first Largemouth Bass I’d ever caught and it happened to be on Lake Fork. It was this trip that I fell in love with the fishing, the people, the country and got my first taste of tournament Bass fishing in the US.
I flew back to Australia from this trip and sold everything I owned, worked and saved for a year, left my family and friends that I had spent the first 26 years of my life with and came back with a rod tube and two suitcases full of tackle. My dream had no path or had ever been done, I don’t know what I was thinking I must have been crazy.
Tomorrow I start practice on Lake Fork, almost 10 years later competing on the biggest stage in fishing, the @bass_nation Bassmaster Elite Series. It has been a crazy journey of ups and down, iv spent the last 10 years living on the edge of exhaustion trying to make my dream become a reality. But I wake up every morning with a vision of where I want to be and a passion for life and this sport that will never leave me. I’m not totally there yet, I have many goals and dreams ahead of me but I love the journey and I’m very proud of how far I’ve come. Life hasn’t given me an inch since moving here, no breaks or easy path. I’ve had to earn it every step of the way, but I’m glad it’s that way and I’m not giving any breaks back. I’m exactly where I want to be with all the opportunities in the world in front of me, I could have never imagined having @kpalaniuk in my life and I’m thankful everyday we are together.
Time to turn our season around and get back in Classic contention. Exciting week ahead.
