Still driving into the night, I spent Australia Day driving across the U.S but hopefully I’ll make it up maybe with a fish with Fred over the next couple of days before I head to Lake Amistad! You have a lot to think about after having a bad tournament like that then spending two days in the truck by yourself, running over and over what you could have done different. I’ll have my blog up soon of how it all went down my results don’t show just how close I was to having a good tournament so I’ll give all the details soon, keep an eye out!
Hope everyone has a great Australia Day! I’m burning the kilometers back from Florida licking my wounds from a rough week! Ill get my tournament blog up soon! Its my Australia Day here tomorrow so my goal is to try catch a bass on my way back somehow, I’ll find a place! This picture I think is what Australia is all about for me, taking a keen young kid out fishing and outdoors! Nothing better I reckon as that was me a few years ago! Have a great day everyone! Cheers!
Well as you can imagine that wasn’t the start I was hoping for. I came in with one bass short of my limit 4 Bass for just under 7 pounds. I will say I’m the proudest I’ve ever been to catch 4 small bass, its unbelievably tough out there. But when you look at the weigh in they always catch them its crazy, even though the weights are way down for Florida fishing! I’m still in high spirits as most that know me I don’t give in easily and feel I can make a big come back tomorrow, some of the biggest fish in the States live In this lake and I’m going to try catch a few of them tomorrow. I need to salvage this tournament so I don’t wreck my chances of an Elite spot for the rest of the Southern Opens. I think I will be about mid field after the weigh in. I’m in my Skeeter right now rigging up and trying to sort a game plan for tomorrow I need to mix things up a lot! I caught those 4 bass by 10am this morning and I should have been able to put a good one with them but I was to hard headed and stayed on them to long even when things had gone quiet, big mistake trying to make them bite. There was over 25 boats in the area I was fishing and it really shut them down. Thank you to everyone who got up early and watched the weigh in live on Bassmaster.com the support I get from everyone over FB is just unreal, I really want to do well for Australia! Back at them tomorrow for a big come back. What Ever It Takes!
Currently sitting 105th with 4 bass for 6lbs 13

Well this is it my first Bassmaster Open for 2014 on Lake Toho, Florida! I’m ready to roll in the morning I drew boat number 12 out of 200 Pros so its a huge field but I should get to my spot first. The conditions and fishing have been nothing short of brutal all week, Florida fish don’t like weather changes and we have had two cold fronts come in since Saturday. It has been below freezing temperatures for a few mornings which is crazy cold for Florida and this has the fish in a bad mood. I’ve done everything I know how to do over the past 5 days and I have found one pattern that I’m relying heavily on, if this doesn’t pan out I will have to fish the conditions and go off my instinct to try and put 5 in the well to stay in the hunt but trust me when I say it’s hard to even catch a Bass some of the time. To say it’s tough is an understatement. Lake Toho is made up of over 5 different lakes all connected by water locks. I’m staying in Toho tomorrow and the technique I’m using is something I’ve done well back home on so I’m keen to get out there. I just have to hope my fish stay put with this next cold front that came through today!
Thank you to everyone that liked and posted on my Bassmaster Blog, it’s great to show them how much interest we have from Australia. I feel great about tomorrow and with the tough conditions it kind of suits me better if I can get onto them. The weigh in will be live tomorrow on Bassmaster.com or there will be a link on this website. I weigh in at 3pm EST I’ll have an update for everyone after the weigh in. One things for sure I won’t be giving up till my last cast! Lets go!
