Thought I’d hooked the Texas state record Bass for a while, turned out to be my biggest Flathead Catfish to date. What a fight!
Lake Fork showed out this week, I caught this 7.2 and a 6lber on the DreamFreaK/Tranx Combo within 30 minutes and then the wind stopped and I didn’t make the right adjustments. Most disappointing thing is missing out on catching more of these by not making the cut. So may more lessons learnt, it was one of the best @bass_nation Live shows iv seen.
Huge congrats to @brandoncobbfishing for another insane win this year! 🙌
. About 5 years ago I came off the Elite stage mid way through the year about as beat down as I’d ever been, I couldn’t wait just to get in the truck and leave. On my way to the truck this kid came up to me and asked if I could sign his frog box and all those negative feelings just left me instantly and I was suddenly grateful just to be there.
Fast forward to my second day at Lake Fork and with a similar defeated feeling coming off stage I hear my name called and turn to see young Lane standing there with that same frog box and his new swimbait box he wanted signed. In the tough times you have to remember the things to be grateful for, what you have, not what you don’t have. Thanks for picking me up after a tough event mate, was great to see ya again and hope we can catch up for a fish one day!
Tough week for us on Lake Fork but I had the opportunity to take one of the twelve High School All-American anglers out yesterday for a Elite experience for them. These twelve kids had been picked out of 500 applications for not only there fishing skills but their off the water excellence and school grades.
We had an amazing day on the water and I got to watch Tyler catch his PB Bass on a frog, they got to weigh in on the Elite stage and Tyler and I won the derby for the day against a tough twelve. A day to remember for both of us and lifted my spirits seeing how passionate these kids are and knowing the future of this sport is in great hands.
Huge thanks to @bass_nation for giving these kids some great opportunities and experiences in this sport!
Had the two hard to get bites early with a 6lber and 7.2lber and then couldn’t put my 5th in the boat.
Changing condition everyday, I need to make some adjustments tomorrow to get inside my first cut for the year. Appreciate all the support it means the world to us, I’ll be giving it everything Iv got! Big day tomorrow!
